Keeping 1.5 within reach
1.5°C to Stay Alive: Aligning finance, justice and community voices to keep 1.5°C in reach
About this session
Pacific island countries helped secure the global goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C. This panel discussion brings together leading Australian and Pacific scholars to consider what it will take to keep 1.5°C within reach, and to unpack Pacific expectations for COP31 and beyond. Panelists will consider the latest science on limiting warming to 1.5°C; international law obligations to keep warming to 1.5°C; and impacts of ocean warming and sea-level rise to 1.5°C. Organised by the COP Universities Alliance, this event synthesises key outcomes of an academic and practitioner workshop held at the University of the South Pacific on October 3.
