Pacific Councils at the Ocean-Climate Frontline

Pacific towns and cities are already confronting some of the world’s most acute ocean-climate risks, and developing solutions with lessons far beyond the region. This panel brings together Pacific mayors, municipal leaders and Indigenous voices to explore how local governments are protecting communities, infrastructure, livelihoods, and ecosystems. Moving from frontline experience to global action, the discussion will ask what needs to change in climate governance, capacity and finance to enable local governments, in the Pacific and globally, to deliver the climate action the Paris Agreement demands.
