Just transition Pacific Island frontline workers

Thursday 8 October 2026 9:00 AM – 9:45 AM Convention 3

About this session

Pacific Island public service workers are not talking about climate change as a future threat — they are living it now. Nurses, emergency workers, local government workers, teachers, public administration workers and utility workers are holding communities together through floods, cyclones, rising seas, health emergencies and forced relocation. Quality public services are central to both reducing carbon pollution and building resilience as the climate crisis escalates. Hear from the unions that represent public service workers on the frontline across the South Pacific. Discuss opportunities for collaboration to build the quality public services to enable the Pacific Islands to thrive.
