Keeping 1.5 within reach

Pacific super pollutant action: Pulling the emergency climate brake to keep 1.5 alive

Thursday 8 October 2026 9:00 AM – 9:45 AM Convention 2

About this session

Action on super pollutants — including methane, black carbon, hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), and tropospheric ozone — is the fastest lever the world has to slow warming and keep 1.5°C alive. Join Pacific climate leaders for a high-level panel as they speak on existing action and opportunities to pull this emergency brake at home and globally. Senior officials will share experience on cross-sectoral coordination, accessing finance, and driving global momentum, including through the Global Methane Pledge and energy transition dialogues. They will identify immediate opportunities for quick climate and clean air wins and call for heightened global action and ambition.
