Powering the Pacific: Electrification for Climate, Resilience and Development

This panel discussion will showcase the latest research on electrification as a critical pathway for both global climate action and sustainable development in the Pacific. Drawing on two newly released Australian Government-funded reports, the discussion will examine how accelerating global electrification, alongside the rapid deployment of renewable energy, is essential to keeping the 1.5°C goal within reach. It will also explore the specific opportunities electrification presents for Pacific Island countries, including enhanced energy security, expanded energy access, greater economic resilience and broader social and economic development outcomes.
