Monday 5 October 2026 3:15 PM – 4:00 PM Ballroom 3

About this session

Join COP31 President for Negotiations Minister Chris Bowen, alongside senior Ministers and trade union leaders from across the Pacific. The term 'Just Transition' was coined by a leader of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union in the early 1990s. Since then the term has become one of the central themes of COP, adopted by governments and organisations across the world. But workers and their unions remain key to turning a ubiquitous catchphrase into material economic transformation. Come find out how trade unions are dealing with escalating climate impacts on their members and how workers are driving the energy transition acoss Australia and the Pacific with an emphasis on good jobs and fair treatment.
