Yarning for Resilient: Amplifying solutions for Non-Economic Loss and Damage in Oceania (YES-NELD)

Tuesday 6 October 2026 10:15 AM – 11:00 AM Ballroom 3

About this session

"NELD is real, multidimensional and relational, and yet it stays largely invisible to formal loss-and-damage accounting and to the finance architecture meant to respond to it. Underrecognition has a measurable consequence, which is under-financing. We will share case studies, key messages including new frameworks to capture NELD and recommendations from the NELD Whitepaper produced through the Yarning for Resilient (YES) Project. Government, Indigenous Leaders, Youths and Researchers will yarn and talanoa around kava how to enable actionable solutions to better recognize and address NELD now and beyond a 1.5oC world in Indigenous Peoples communities in Oceania."
